I wanted to share a story from my BF about a recent trip of meeting his ex-wife to drop off his son.  Enjoy!

by Michael Brandon

Karma?  Keep in mind that I normally drive, but do not possess my wallet today so could not drive. We leave the house to take my son Caleb back and are on our way to meet his mother. A couple of minutes into the drive, Donna is driving due to lack of ID on my part, goes something like this…

Me: (realizing the fog is so thick you can cut it with a knife) “Do you have the lights on babe?”

Donna: (Pointing to the driver’s side area) “See this? I got this right here. (slight giggle)”

Me: Ohhhhhhh….okay then.

We chuckle about it and are on our merry way….All goes well as we drop Caleb Brandon off with his Mother and begin to head home. Now, it is still very foggy keep in mind. Here we go….

Me:  (As we pass a sign on the road that reads “LIGHTS ON FOR SAFETY” I think to myself…hmmm better make sure she has the lights on. Just as I am about to ask her, it clicks! WAIT!!! I remember what had happened earlier and decided to assume that SHE’S GOT THIS.5 minutes down the road……

Me: There is a Sheriff ahead with his lights on

Donna: Where? Oh, I see him….continue driving passed the Sheriff and at a safe speed.Donna: He’s pulling out but not coming up on us so do I pull over?

Me: Yes, just pull over and let him pass.

Donna begins to pull over and to our surprise, so does the Sheriff. Both of us have total looks of confusion on our faces about this point.Sheriff walks up to the passenger side, (Passenger window does not roll down), I motion the window is broke and he asks me to open the door.

Sheriff: Morning. Do you know why I pulled you over?

Donna and I: (With a deer in the headlights look and in total unison) *blink* *blink* *blink*   “Noooooooooo, not really”And with that, he looks at us both like we are clueless morons. and you can almost see he wants to laugh.

Sheriff: Ma’am, you were driving without your lights on in foggy conditions.

Donna and I both just HAD to look at the light switch to see it was in the OFF position.

Donna: Oh shoot! I didn’t even realize it. I had them on earlier, dropped off his Son, and must have forgotten to turn them back on.

Me, now laughing out loud and looking at the Sheriff, just HAS to explain how I had told her earlier about the lights and how she had said “I GOT THIS”. He shows a slight grin as he asks for our ID’s. Donna produces hers, but as earlier stated, I do not have my wallet on me. Smirk leaves his face as he now has to take my name and D.O.B. so he can obviously check me out.

 Donna: Now you look suspicious…..(giggle)

Me: Oh that’s great…(chuckle)

A few minutes go by and he returns.

Sheriff: okay, everything checks out. ma’am, I am just going to give you a warning, but be sure to turn your lights on.

Me: ( I run thru the “GOT THIS” story yet again) and the Sheriff chuckles and it seems as tho he was letting me know he gave me something to use against her for the rest of the day. I am sure he knows the as men we do not win very often and have to take every advantage we can. Now it is over, we pull away, CHECKING THE LIGHTS FIRST!!!!!

Donna: I thought he was writing me a ticket for sure. I am so glad he just gave me a warning. Maybe he thought I was cute. (giggle)

Me: Yeah, or maybe he thought I was.  (wink)

And now we are on our way.

Didn’t know just HOW sneaky he was

Most know that my son is here for the summer and that I hate it when he has to go back to his dad’s.  FYI, that part sucks!  But I have learned a lot about my kid over the summer that I really didn’t know.  Like… just how sneaky he is.  Now, it’s not like I didn’t know he was sneaky, was just that I didn’t know how bad he was at being sneaky.  My kids usually give themselves away when they are trying to get over.  It’s the little things that they don’t realize that parents notice.

Like most kids, during the summer her likes to stay up late and loves to play WOW.  Well, I’m not sure if he loves it or gets bored with it.  He has created about 20 characters that now have to be deleted.  I had been letting him stay up until around 11 pm, I figured that’s plenty late enough.   Apparently, my son didn’t think this was late enough and my BF and I found out he was getting up after we went to bed and playing World of WarCraft.  He was actually staying up until about 6 am.   Think that’s when he heard our alarm go off and quickly jumped into bed.  Obviously I was furious when I learned this and grounded him from the computer.

I asked my BF to unplug the computer and take the cord so he could not get online.  Well my BF thinking that my 9 year old would not figure out that it was only unplugged, did not take the cord and only plugged from the computer.  My son…being the genius he is….soon figured it out, plugged the computer back in, played all day long and unplugged before we got home….Are ya kidding me?!?!?  Needless to say, “I” took cord  and he didn’t play until I decided I wanted to give him connection to the outside world.  So yesterday was his first time that I allowed him to play on the  computer and low and behold, he was up after we went to bed again.  What is wrong with this child?!?!

I guess he will spend the rest of his time here without a computer.

I had a new customer tell me last week that she decided to purchase from me because I smiled at her.

People amaze me

I was listening to the Mel Robbins show today.  (I love your show, Mel.)  She had a segment about the tragic shooting in Aurora, CO.  My thoughts and prayers go out to all in Colorado.

There was a guy that had taken his girlfriend and her kids to the movie showing that night.  When the shooting started, the guy actually left the girlfriend and the kids behind.  Now I was driving and at this point I said to myself  “Are you kidding me?!?!  What kind of piece of crap does that to his girlfriend and children?”  A heroic 19 year old, I believe,  young man leads the woman and her children to safety and in the process gets shot in the leg.  But the story doesn’t end here.  The guy, that leaves behind girlfriend and the children, goes to the hospital to find his girlfriend and  proposes to her.  Incredibly she said “YES!!”.  I was thinking “What!!!  What is wrong with this woman?  I’m thinking if he will leave her in this situation what will he do in other situations?”.  I think as a man, you should be protecting your girlfriend/wife etc and children….not leave them behind.  Of course then I wonder what is wrong with the girl that she would still want to be with him.  Maybe I’m wrong in feeling so strongly about this.  Sometimes people just amaze me.

What do you think?

Product for Cheeks ‘ N Lips

Avon’s Tint ‘N Go

Today I decided to post another Avon Product Review.  I find products reviews to be helpful when people are needing a little extra help in deciding if they want to try a certain product.

Being that I love makeup that is easy to apply as well as quick; I wanted to try Avon’s “Tint ‘N Go“.

I love the idea of having a dual application product.  Available in the 4 colors of Nude, Sunny, Berry and Spicy;  Tint ‘N Go can be applied to cheeks and lips.   I choose the Berry, in case you were wondering.  It goes in very smooth but remember this is a tint.  Does not go on very dark on the lips, only tints them.  Very creamy and smooth.  I loved the Berry color.  Great product if you are always on the go and need quick color on cheeks and lips.

The only issue that I had with this product, besides not realizing it was small, was when applying it would go back up into the tube.  I tried rolling it out a little farther and also holding it at different points on the tube.

Weird or Not so weird bug?

Take a look at this….I have seen some crazy looking bugs while living here in Central Florida.   This guy was hanging out on our back porch when I went out to have my  morning coffee…not much of a conversationalist though. Seems to be keeping to himself, that’s quite alright with me.  This thing was huge.

I hoping someone out there knows what this thing is.

Need to get off my butt more

I read an article that stated sitting at a desk all day is the “worst thing you can do for your butt”.

A Tel Aviv University study sited that up to 50 more body fat is produced in the body parts we put pressure on when sitting or reclining. (This explains a lot for me) To combat this, that means you must get up every hour and walk around your office, talk a short walk outside or even stand up while making calls.

This is the WONDERFUL thing about working from home. We get a chance to walk outside and take those short breaks. Also taking these short breaks will increase your productivity as well as health. :)

Resurfacing Expert

AVON Anew Resurfacing Expert

Over the last several years, I have noticed my skin having rough patches.  As I get older there seem to be more of these rough patches of skin, even though I cleanse my face in the morning and at night.  Apparently cleansing alone was not solving my problem.

In the last couple of months I have wanted to try to review as many of the AVON products as possible.  So about 4 weeks ago I purchased the ANEW Resurfacing Expert Smoothing Fluid.  It’s supposed to be 79% as effective as a professional  microdermabrasion – without the same irritation.  I figured “What the heck, I”ll give it a try.”  It’s should get rid of these rough patches, right?

I use the fluid after I cleanse and before applying moisturizer.  I usually cleanse my skin and then wait about 5 minutes then apply the next step.  That way I don’t get the tingling sensation.  The first two days, I used this fluid in the morning and at night.  By the third day, I could NOT believe the feel of my skin.  Absolutely no more rough patches on my face.  My face felt incredibly soft and smooth.  You do not have to apply much product.  Now I use the fluid about 2 times a week to keep my skin soft and smooth.

To use:  Unscrew cap, keeping dropper in the bottle.  Press down the top cap button with index finger to fill the dropper with serum.  Then release finger.  Remove dropper from the bottle and press button again to release serum into palm of hand.   That little bit of fluid covered my entire face and was able to put on my neck as well.  A little goes a long way.  If you have highly sensitive skin may not be comfortable using this product.  Also, while using this product contains Alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun and particularly to sunburn.  Use sunscreen and limit exposure to the sun for about a week afterwards.

I wanted to share my experience with someone, so I waited to meet a sister AVON Rep at a church rummage sale.  We where we were invited to have an AVON table set up for customers to browse.  She and I were chit chatting with people coming in and out of the church and just making small talk.  When I had a chance, I asked her if she had ever used the Resurfacing Fluid.  I told her that I had been using it a couple of times a week for the last week or two and to not think that I was weird but I wanted to get her opinion as to the results of the product.  I then asked her to feel my face and tell me what she though of the texture.  She told me that my skin felt like “a baby’s bottom” and couldn’t believe the amazing results.  I took that as a compliment, btw.

She has since started using this product herself and her husband noticed right away the difference in her skin.  He told her to keep doing whatever she was doing because her skin was looking great.  I actually had someone to stop me and ask if I were from Canada because they said that I have beautiful skin.  Anyone that knows me, knows that I have a very thick southern accent and definitely know that I’m NOT from Canada.  :)

I credit beautiful skin to protecting it from the sun, getting plenty of rest, drink lots of water and using AVON.

Take care of the skin you’re in

My beauty tip for today is to have a skin care regimen.

Avon Anew Reversalist Trial Size Kit

We all think that this is hard or takes too much time.  But fact is, it’s not hard at all.  I realized that from a young age that I didn’t want my skin to look like dried up couch leather.  The only way to keep that beautiful skin is of course to eat well, get plenty of rest, cleanse, moisturize AND protect our skin, even if you don’t wear makeup.  Men this is for you too.  I only have this one skin so I have to take care of it.

I use the Avon Anew Reversalist skin care and absolutely love it! Start with a good cleanser (I use my cleanser while I’m in the shower) like the Anew Reversalist  Renewal Foaming Cleanser then follow with a day time moisturizer like the Day Renewal Cream with SPF 25.  I then follow this by protecting my skin with the Anew Age-Transforming Foundation with SPF 15.  Protecting the skin from the sun’s harmful rays is just as important as cleansing and and using moisturizer.  At night, I use the same cleanser and the Anew Reversalist Renewal Night Cream as my nighttime  moisturizer.  I absolutely love this night renewal cream.  My skin still feels moisturized when I wake up the next morning.  I also use the Illuminating Eye System for the delicate eye area.  Always use a moisturizer developed for use in the eye area for the best results.

I’m trying to get my BF on the skin care.  Will keep you posted how it works for him.  It’s all in the name of product research, right?

What are your beauty tips to keep your skin looking its beautiful best?
